Introduction to Blogs and RSS Feeds

Blog? What's a blog? According to Merriam-Webster (2011) it is "a Web site that contains an online personal journal with reflections, comments, and often hyperlinks provided by the writer." Blogs can also allow for comments back and forth between readers and the author.  For example, here is a blog post on using blogs in education called "Making Writing Authentic in K-12" (Petty, 2012).

If you are new to blogs, but would like to learn more about blogging, here is a video from Common Craft on blogging:

How do you find the blogs you want to follow? Google has a Blog Search tool that will only search blogs and posts instead of the entire web.

Now that you are interested...how do you keep up with all the blogs you want to read? RSS feeds bring the blog post to you in one place! Here is another Common Craft video on Google Reader:

Now, it's time to get blogging!
